About

Founded in 1946, Pi Media is the oldest and largest student journalism society at UCL. We’ve been creating current, insightful and award-winning content on campus for over 70 years. Initially launched as a newspaper and named after former Provost David Pye, we now publish on three platforms: Pi Online, Pi Magazine and PiTV.Pi Media was recognised as Best Publication at the Students’ Union Arts Awards 2020.  Pi Online is our fastest-growing platform, where we regularly post content across six sections: News, Opinion, Features, Science & Tech, Lifestyle and Culture. From breaking campus news to insightful commentary on student politics, in-depth investigations to environmental features, student life advice to reviews of the latest culture London has to offer, we cover absolutely everything on this platform. Pi Online was named Best Publication at the 2015 and 2017 UCLU Arts Awards and the Student Publication Association's Best Website 2015/16. Pi Magazine is our free biannual print publication. Each magazine issue centres on a different theme, carefully chosen to drive discussion of current events and new ideas on campus. We pride ourselves on the professional journalistic and artistic quality of Pi Magazine. Look out for our launch events this year and pick up a copy of the glossy print magazine on campus! All of our magazines are available online on our website. In 2020, we will launch a series of mini digital magazines, spotlighting some Pi Online articles and featuring original artwork. Pi Magazine came runner-up in the Best Student Publication category at the 2009 Guardian Student Media Awards, and won Best Publication at the 2012, 2013 and 2016 UCLU Arts Awards.PiTV is the broadcasting arm of Pi Media. We produce a range of video projects, from short documentaries, travel diaries and the Backstage Pass series, to student news coverage, political interviews and UCL Students’ Union investigations. PiTV won Best Collaboration with Film Society in 2013.Pi Media offers a dynamic and supportive environment to develop your journalistic style.
