About

KCL PRASS is a student led society focusing on plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.  We host a large number of events such as lectures and practical workshops including suturing classes where surgeons teach students a variety of skills, from the basics to more advanced flaps.  Our most popular event is the Annual National PRASS Conference where students and junior doctors from across the country come to learn about different aspects of plastic surgery including burns, oncoplastics, orthoplastics, trauma, aesthetics, microsurgery and maxfax. The conference has continued to grow larger each year, with last year’s online conference gaining over 500 signups and attracted participants from all around the world.   Due to covid, the upcoming year will have more online events. However, this will enable you to attend more events from the comfort of your home! We also have plans to resume our popular in-person events as soon as it is safe to do so.  We currently have our Under the Knife series on Instagram where we interview specialist plastic surgeons from around the world. We cover a wide variety of topics ranging from their practice as a plastic surgeon to their lifestyle interests and hobbies. If you have missed any of these, they are all available on our Instagram page meaning you can catch up whenever you like! Additionally, we host a series of 5 or 6 curriculum events each year. These include a variety of lectures and workshops with learning objectives allowing you to learn about management, techniques, and details of a specific field of plastics. All our curriculum events are led by renowned surgeons across the country.    This year, we are also starting a journal club which will focus on academia within surgery and what you can do to get ahead as a medical student. We will host a series of online sessions with academic surgeons and junior doctors which will give you an opportunity to learn about the world of research! If you have any ideas or specific interests for any future events, please get in touch with us via our Instagram or Facebook pages! We would love to hear your ideas. By becoming a member today, you will have access to discounted tickets across all our events; a deal not to be missed! We look forward to welcoming you to PRASS events this year!
