About Chess Club
Welcome to the Imperial College London Chess Club! Everyone is welcome to join our big family, no matter if you are a newbie wanting to pick up a hobby, or a titled player who can’t wait to play in many national tournaments! We will have many activities across the year, ranging from weekly club nights to competitive FIDE-rated tournaments across the country. During our club nights, we play friendly games and prized blitz tournaments, analyse interesting matches and get to meet lots of friends from different faculties and departments! We are also excited to host many special events such as quantum chess games, puzzle tournaments and other collaborative events with other clubs and societies! Every year, we have opportunities for rated chess: • London Chess League (LCL): ECF-rated weekly matches, usually held on weekday evenings, with 10 spots available. • Central London Chess Congress: FIDE-rated tournaments that we host twice a year (usually during November and April) with around 100 participants (Discounted entry fee for all club members). • British Universities’ Chess Association (BUCA) Championship: a FIDE-rated 4-player team event where the best players from every university compete to become UK’s #1 university team! And we look forward to many more! This club is a great place for chess enthusiasts to socialise. Do not let go of this golden opportunity! Find us in Meeting Room 3 on the 3rd floor of the Imperial College Union building, on Mondays from 18:30 to 21:00 (sometimes it’s a pizza night!)
