Operating out of our new purpose build broadcast headquarters in Central Square, we deliver high quality, distinctive content across all platforms. From Radio drama to TV drama, Live Orchestra to Live news. You name it, we are across it! Our Engineers are responsible for the installation and maintenance of a wide range of systems covering all aspects of Broadcasting across Radio, Television and Online. If you want to expand your broadcast engineering skills, are keen to learn and want to join a cutting edge team then this is the location for you! We repair faults quickly and identify and implement alternative ways to overcome technical problems working closely with production teams to ensure we’re providing content of the highest quality for our audiences.

Area of Responsibilities



This scheme is aimed at growing the best creative technologists for broadcasting. You’ll undertake work placements in the BBC’s engineering team at your base in order to gain an understanding of the systems involved in the production and broadcast of BBC output, and the diverse technologies that make this possible. You will work with technical teams in the support and maintenance, planning, design, development, integration, commission and testing of broadcast systems.You will get the opportunity to undertake blended learning through a series of on line and face to face teaching, including:Network TechnologyStudio and Broadcast TechnologyProfessional Development, Engineering Practice and ResearchSignal Compression and EncodingBroadcast Systems Integration

Do you hold a degree (at least a 2:2 or equivalent) in Electronics, Computer Science or a closely related subject, or expect to achieve one by September 2023?Is your academic achievement coupled with a high level of mathematical reasoning skills?Can you bring a sound knowledge of audio, video and broadcasting principles and an understanding of the demands of a broadcasting environment? (desirable, not essential)Are you able to demonstrate a personal interest in the creative elements of media and technology?
