Description

At HS2 we offer a two-year rotational graduate programme, providing you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself in a series of placements. The programme is designed to give you as much experience as possible across different teams in a particular business area.

We have a total of 2 graduate opportunities available in London all of which will require travel to various site locations across the HS2 line of route. Graduate opportunities will be available across a variety of HS2 teams including but not limited to those listed below. After the assessment stage, we will assign successful candidates accordingly based on business requirements. After completion of the 2-year graduate programme graduates will be transferred into a role within the same discipline, but not necessarily the same business area.

The Hybrid Bill Delivery Directorate works with the Department for Transport (DfT) to obtain the necessary legal powers from Parliament to construct Phase 2b of HS2. The Bill seeking consent for the latest phase of HS2 was introduced into Parliament in January 2022.

Responsibilities

Parliamentary Management: delivering operational support during the passage of the HS2 Crewe to Manchester Bill through Parliament, principally during the scrutiny of objections to the Bill by specially convened Select Committees. This placement will also include supporting Counsel and Witnesses, as well as ensuring evidence is produced and delivered to all parties and working closely with Parliamentary Agents.Petition Management – Individuals & Communities: supporting the management of formal objections against the HS2 Crewe to Manchester Bill from individuals and communities along the route.Powers & Consents: working within the team responsible for delivering the legal authority necessary to acquire land and build HS2, including through amendments to the HS2 Crewe to Manchester Bill.Petition Management – Commercial Organisations: supporting the management of formal objections against the HS2 Crewe to Manchester Bill from large and medium-sized businesses and other corporate entities along the route

Requirements

planning and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize and deliver day-to-day tasksan ability to coordinate and carry out tasks to agreed deadlinesan ability to understand complex issues and solve problemscommunication skills and the ability to develop relationships with teams across HS2 as well as stakeholders outside the projectan ability to work in collaboration as part of a multidisciplinary team.2:1 bachelor’s degree in any discipline (or non-UK equivalent)IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
