As an industrial placement student, and whatever you’re studying, we’ll help make sure you get the most out of your time with us. Fidelity is a fantastic place to learn, innovate and grow. There are expert colleagues around the world to learn from and share ideas with.

Our expert Technology team empower our people and support our progress all around the world. They develop the applications and infrastructure that underpin everything from trading and operations to compliance and customer service. And they’re always searching for new and better ideas. Below are some examples of teams which you may have an opportunity to work with during your 12 month engineering stream placement, although the exact team you join will be confirmed closer to the time of your placement:

Global Cyber and Information Security Team

The Global Cyber & Information Security (GCIS) function operate enterprise security services and controls that are designed to mitigate Cyber and Information Security risks, enabling the business to operate securely.

Cyber Defence Operations Team

A global team who protect the services that underpin our revenue, operational, compliance, finance, legal, marketing and customer services and secure the safe functioning of our networks. Team members monitor, analyse, and provide remediation of security events on the corporate networks. They act as the first line of defence for security event triage and are constantly called on to identify complex and targeted intrusion attempts.

Web Application Development Team

A global team working with Product Owners Digital and Technical teams within Fidelity International to deliver a new technology platform to support Fidelity International’s Workplace Investments business.

You’ll contribute to positive, meaningful work that make a difference to our clients and employees. Depending on the team that you join, you’ll help our clients invest and plan for the futures they want, or help to protect the services that underpin our business. You’ll provide invaluable support to your team, too. You will: Develop an understanding of multiple Cyber Security domains, such as Cyber Defence Operations, Security Business Enablement and Information SecurityLearn how the Cyber Defence team monitors and investigates potential malicious activityWork with product owners identify new improvements, customer requirements and follow through to delivery.Assist with the design, definition, exploration, and delivery of an end-to-end technology solutionsExperience engaging multiple teams across the firm both in Technology and in the broader businessLearn how to perform event correlation to determine the effectiveness of an observed attackLearn how to analyse data sets to find correlations, perform trend analysis create reports and document and escalate incidents that may impact the environment.Experience of working in a global team and organisation

Requirements

It’s who you are that matters here, rather than what you studied.We look for interns who are analytical, eager to learn and ready to take on a challenge. A genuine curiosity and eagerness to learn about coding and technology is required. Coding skills and a problem solving approach are of particular interest, although these may have been developed through education, online courses or whilst working on your personal projects.We welcome applications from students from ALL degree backgrounds; you do not need a technology related degree. If you’re inquisitive and ambitious, a placement at Fidelity is a great opportunity to discover whether this kind of work is for you.And, as we’re an international organisation, we’ll need you to speak English.We’ll also need you to:be graduating in 2025 (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree)have the right to work in the UK at point of application.
