Description
We are seeking an intern with a solid understanding of the regulatory and legal framework for chemical pollution including so-called ‘forever chemicals’ such as PFAS.
We have run a successful internship and externship programme since 2020 through which we have benefitted from the expertise of postgraduate students who have been able to enhance our work on specific themes so there is precedence to have real impact at the firm regarding how we approach the domain.
Work will be paid and there is the possibility of help with academic funding and full-time roles being offered to exceptional candidates.
Area of Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Research will focus on the implications of increasing government and public awareness of hazardous pollutants for the companies who produce these as well as for the regulatory regime. In addition the candidate will look at legal action being taken against chemical companies in the US with the aim of looking at how the same theme could play out in Europe and in the UK.
Requirements
We are looking for an intern who is currently completing their LLM in a relevant subject. The area of study doesn’t have to be environmental law but the successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the relevant regulatory and legal frameworks, will also be a strong communicator and will be passionate about their chosen area of study. Successful applicants share some common traits:
- Naturally curious, highly motivated, and numerically inclined, with a strong sense of personal responsibility
- Creative, with the ability to deliver new ideas, present concepts and develop new solutions
