Description

Balyasny Asset Management is looking for an exceptional data analyst intern to join the Data Intelligence Group for the Summer of 2023. The candidate will work with a team of data analysts who improve BAM’s data offerings via its proprietary research API used by portfolio managers, quants, and the rest of the investment staff. This role includes gathering user requirements, communicating with data vendors, learning about new datasets, profiling data, building a data pipeline, aligning symbology, and creating interactive educational materials. If you have a passion for financial data, collaborating on complex data problems, and using an API to retrieve data, you will excel in this role.

Profile vendor data to verify data quality, coverage, history and raise questions about outliers Write configuration files, load data, and document workflows for usersCommunicate with BAM’s data providers to learn the nuances of their dataCollaborate with data analysts and data engineers to model new datasets

Requirements

Pursuing Bachelor’s / Master's Degree in Computer or Data Science, Finance, Statistics, or related fields Strong Programming Skills: Python and Pandas experience necessaryExperience with data wrangling and or transforming data Ability to describe and visualize complex data in simple termsDetail-oriented and willing to ask questions Strong written and verbal communication skills Prior data internship experience is a plus Experience with a financial data vendor(s) (e.g. Refinitiv, FactSet, S&P, Bloomberg) is a plus
