Rolling basis


The UK Materials and Processes team consists of a number of different technology groups: Assembly Technology, Composite Technology, Surface Technology, Material Laboratories, Additive Manufacturing, Mechanical Test and Metals Technology. Working within Materials and Processes provides the unique opportunity to gain skills across the different technology groups, developing a variety of practical lab-based skills.

The role will require the successful candidate to proactively contribute to ongoing projects and collaborate with colleagues in an international team by undertaking practical activities and tasks within the laboratories. The candidate should have a basic understanding of metallic material characteristics and manufacturing processes including additive manufacturing as the activities undertaken will primarily be within the Additive Manufacturing Metals Technology Team.

Area of Responsibilities



You will be working with the Additive Manufacturing Metals Technology Team to develop and qualify metallic materials and processes for metal powder bed and direct energy deposition additive manufacturing processes for Titanium, Aluminium, Nickel super alloys and Stainless Steel alloys.

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.The successful candidate shall be:Studying for a Metallic Materials Science Degree.Proactive and self-starterInterest in Materials field
