Description

Our Electro-Optics Seekers & Sensors department works on projects that cover the whole product lifecycle from research and development through to full product design and production. We provide expertise and support into all projects within MBDA involving EO technologies, as well as investing in research and development of innovative technologies which will shape the future of our products. This role presents an exciting opportunity to experience all of these areas through a range of systems design, computational modelling, lab testing and field trials within an innovative team culture.

Responsibilities

This role will involve a variety of work across the range of technologies we specialise in, including infra-red seekers, sensors, optics, lasers, Computational Imaging and Directed Energy Weapons (DEW). You will be undertaking ambitious and rewarding tasks involving:Researching EO technologies and solutions,Building, testing and evaluating prototype demonstrators in the lab,Designing sub-systems using systems engineering,Specifying and evaluating performance of full seeker systems,Integrating industry-leading hardware and components,Modelling and simulating of sensors, targets and environments,Capturing and analysing IR imagery in field trials.Throughout your placement you will be working within a team whilst taking ownership of small packages of work to feed into wider programmes and impact their direction. Roles will often involve collaboration across the wider EO group, working with Technical Experts, Lab Custodians and Programme Leads.

Requirements

Currently studying towards a Degree in any relevant applied Physics, Electronics or Engineering degreeGood communication and presentation skillsA passion for applying your university learning to real-world engineering projects and technologies
